Usually when you scan an image into Word, it stays like that, as an Image and it cannot be edited. Try opening it up in (yes this is low-tech) Paint, because when you paste an image into that, you can then erase and add text and other things. If you want to use a program like photoshop, Gimp is pretty much the same thing but free. Good luck hope this helps!

You need to have access to a scanner that uses character recognition software. What the scanner does is, rather than convert the document to an image (jpg or bmp), it converts it to actual text that you can edit then using Word or another word processing program. The only problem would occur if the original document wasn't clear (smudged, creased, etc.) or if letters were very close to each other ... sometimes it might think an "r n" is an "m". Another option would be to contact the court (or your attorney?) and ask if there was an electronic version already. Depending on the type of document, they might have a downloadable document on the court's/government agency's website.

I really don't see the point in scanning and then filling it out. Besides, if they're court papers...you can't show up with COPIES.

Once you scan them, they are really just .jpg (picture) files. It would be a ton of work to figure out how to type in the information. Know anybody with a typewriter?
