Is having fun one night really worth disapointing your
parents? I know there comes a time in life when you
may have to make a decision that will mean standing
on your own two feet. Do you have some friends that
are staying home and watching videoor something
like that? I,m not sure the Halloween party is worth
upsetting mom and dad,but then it's up to you.
When it comes to career, college, man you choice,
or church you may want to listen to family but have
to make your own mind up. Then live with it.
Some things can be changed, but others not
without some pain. When it comes to the serious
things it may be easier if you can say to mom and
dad I've always tried to listen to you.I feel you
have done a good job raising me,but I feel this has to
be my decision. Always honor them and be thankful
for them even if they went over the guidelines a
bit. You will survive. If good parenting wasn,t so
important it might be funny. Someday you may be
the parent. I,m sure you love them or you wouldn't
be concerned about pleasing them. I have a soft spot
in my heart for you. Both of my parents are gone now.
They weren,t perfect, but I,d give anything just to talk
to them again. Mostly share.

well- you have your own ideans , thoguht and beliefs about certain things no matter waht religion you were born into either way you will decide waht you want to do in your life when you're big enought anyway. For now- do as your paretns tell you and when you''re old enought do wahtever you want. My friend was born into a seventh day adventist family and always dressed really conservative to school but as soon as we got into the bathroon she changed into her Gothic Clothes and did her make up all black. SHe lived doing this all through hight shchool without her parents knowing about it 9 iw as the only one that knew she was doing this) unitl she graduated. She told her parents she didn't agree with certain things about their church and moved out. If you feel a certain way about something keep it to your self. Your parents will not take your thought in consideration because you'r a child still.

Seriously, Halloween is so commercialized it really can't be related to the origins of it's past.
Also, you should be who you want to be. i know it's ahrd when you want to not let your parents down, but eventually it will happen on some issue and they deal with it. That's the whole thing about being a parent. Have fun and stay within the limits of your own personal morals, without trying to squish yourself into someone elses.

i grew up hearing the same thing about halloween as you did...but when i got older i began to see things differently...alot of christian churches have halloween celebrations for the kids and encourage them to dress up in costumes...like of people from the bible or great historical figures...i see absolutely nothing wrong in that....i dont think its ok to dress up in anything bloody or gorey but thats what i believe....if you dont feel personally condemned i think it is not disrespectful to your family or your faith...on the other hand if you are a minor or rely on your family for financial support then you should by all means respect their wishes

I think it would be fine for you to dress up and have a little innocent fun for Halloween. Your family should realize that you can choose what you want to do in your life and I don't think you are going to partake in ritual sacrificing of anything like that so go out and have a little fun girl!

Change and evolution are inevitable and they are the only constant in life! You can definetly wear your costume and show your parents and they'll let you know if you have direspected their religious beliefs especially if you live under their roof. Keeping in mind that one of the original ten comandments is "Respect thy parents". If you do not live under their roof then wear this respectable outfit knowing that it falls into the parameters of what you believe is tasteful in the eyes of your parents & religious guidance.

I don't think it is a Devil's holiday, but I think you should talk to your parents and explain your ideas before you do anything. Tell them what you believe, and ask to talk to them at a good time, like when they aren't in the middle of something.
