Go to TDAmeritrade and read their resource materials and ask questions.

For stock research, try The Motley Fool.

Go to the library, find an investing book that appeals to you, and start applying ideas from it to historical data. If it works for you, start buying stock. If it doesn't, find another book. Classes are expensive....at least with a book, you learn at your own pace and there's no large cost to try to recover from while you're making mistakes. If you're technical in nature, try looking at www.stockcharts.com.
