No but there isn't anything you can do about it. You aren't her mother.

The first thing you should ask yourself, and the 10 year old, is what does "have a boyfriend" mean? I think most of the time, at 10, it means a boy says "I like you" and the girl says "I like you back" - and that's all it is. They still play with their same-sex friends at recess and nothing else changes much. Maybe the boy calls on the phone now and then. My kid had a "boyfriend" when she was 10 and in the 6th grade. I asked her what that meant - and it didn't amount to much of anything. She wasn't kissing him or even holding his hand. So, I think a lot of it has to do with your connotation of the word "boyfriend."

Also - because I was open minded about it - and asked gentle questions, she still talks to me about the boys in her life now. And that is so very important for parents and kids to have open communication.

Since you're not the parent - it's probably best not to judge her, and let her parents decide what they think is best.

Well first it's really the parents decision but I really don't see anything wrong with it if its just your normal elemantary age crush. I had my first "boyfriend" at 8 and it was nothing more than holding hands and saying we were boyfriend and girlfriend.

No she is too young to date. That is the reason why teenage pregnancies are extremely high. Kids now a days start very young. They have nothing to look forward to if they start young

my son is 10 and has a "girlfriend" this extends to the he likes me/ she likes me thing at school. There is no dating, phone calls, or out of school socializing. Like a first crush and completely harmless.

My opinion is no she shouldn't. She's too young to have a boyfriend, but if that's whats allowed, what can you do?

Personally, I don't think so. But if her parents allow it, that's their issue. I would not allow the b/f to come around while you are babysitting.(Funny, if she is mature enough for a b/f, why does she need a babysitter?.........HHHMMMM.)

That is a liability her parents should not expect you to deal with.
