Judging from what this priest, who molested Foley is saying do you think?

That you should remove your sons from the Catholic church and certainly from being alter boys. I wouldn't let a priest within 10 feet of my son. Unless my son was big and old enough to beat some sense into him.

I wonder if Foley being molested justifies what he did. I also wonder if being in an all male environment so much of their private time causes them to develop these behaviors. Is molest ion from priest as rare at some indicate or is reporting of it what is rare. Last week I read about a BBC report that the current Pope was the head of a committee responsible for suppressing reports of molestation before he was Pope.

I can recall cases of homosexual advances being made toward underage boys by scout leaders, guidance counsellors, youth ministers, grandparents, uncles, neighbors, and of course the largest single group of offenders, teachers. Would you let your son near any of these? Would you keep your son from the spiritual growth he could experience through the example of 99 holy, well adjusted priests, just to make sure he didn't run into the 1% who might commit such offenses? Or, would you train your son how to react if ANY adult made improper advances? It seems that might be the preferable way to go. Otherwise you will raise insecure, maladjusted children who are irrationally afraid of everyone and everything.

Remove my sons from the Church Jesus Christ founded for them? The Church which teaches the fullness of Christian truth? Because a few men in the Church have sexual problems? Are you serious? Besides, they are just as likely to run into a pervert anywhere else they go.

Parents should be check out any adults who might be spending any private time with their children. Not just priests. Most of the time nothing bad is going on. The majority of priests are very good people and wouldn't harm a child.
This priest who molested Foley is something though. I heard him on the radio talking about "just fondling", "never any pentatration", like some how that made it ok.

It's only 1% of priests and most of those cases were 30 and 40 years ago.

Let's end Boy Scouts because they've busted a number of Boy Scout leaders for molesting kids. Let's end schools because 10 times the number of teachers are molesting kids RIGHT NOW than priests molested children in the past.

I think we need to also protect from Camp Counselors, Boy Scout Leaders, teachers, neighbors. This is a sick world and we need to really beware of who we let our children be alone with. Every parent should ask the question" Why does this adult need alone time w/ my child?" There is never a reason for that!! Read Yahoo news today about the porn ring bust ....sick and scary.
This is the type of stuff that makes me pray for Jesus' return.

as with most situations, there are probably many priest who have not and would not ever "molest" a child entrusted to them.But the whole unnatural thing about a man being without female companionship,and being in close contact with people,male and female, would make me cautious leaving any child, or weak minded person in their care.It just seems that you are expected to "suspend" reality.

No, knowledge is power and we need to educate our children on what to do in a situation and to tell tell tell always even just an inappropriate comment. I think that there is this dager all around...church, doctors, schools and the internet.
