...the way 'wisdom' most probably did, judging by her last few posts. What do other parents who refuse to let their children's minds be stolen do to encourage rational thought in their children?

Nikki: I feel I will have failed as a parent if I don't 'lead them astray' of the madness you apparently espouse.

Excuse me, 'wisdom', (snicker, snicker) I myself would *prefer* monkeys to brainwashed sponges. I really think I would feel like dying if people could just 'spoon it right in' to my childrens' heads.

Oh, yeah, 'wisdom (still laughing): if monkeys are straight-A students and majoring in physics, then I guess my kids are monkeys.

You're a sad example of what religion and gods to do people, and I wish you luck in someday overcoming this mental crutch.

I want my child to make her own decisions based on her own conclusions. not the ones I or anyone else put there. I refuse to baptize my child at the river or fill her head full of irrational ghost stories about conforming to the rules that I myself could not follow.

children?? I raised mine back in the day when I was an atiest. One of them got to know Jesus, the other I do not know.

still one of the things I did turns out was a good idea. I refused to have a television but let them read whatever they wanted. In school they excelled becuz they read well and because they had read much. Many times I would get up to put wood on the fire and there was light under the blamket which was pretty silly since I had no prescribed bed time only no dragging in the morning due to lack of sleep. By the time my boy was 10 he had read the dictionary which he thought was interesting (go figure).Daughter got an old encyclopedia at an auction for a quarter and read that b4 12.

one never knoows how what we do will turn out. There was no TV when I was lil and I hated reading.

Maybe it is YOU who is the brainwashed sponge... but you just absorbed the devil's juice and you think that sterotyping and generalizing Christians into little "boxes" in your prejudiced anti-God closed mind is so "intelligent"! What you should try sometime is giving that big sponge of a brain of yours a good squeeze to get the evil juice out and then try filling it with the Goodness of the Lord; you might be surprised at how much variety and creativeness there is in the mind of the Creator of all things.

i encourage my kids to take only what makes sense to them

until they reach a certain age , i give them no religious title
only when they wish to take one , will they do so
my oldest is 15 and only just recently told me that she feels she has no religion because she respects too many others to make a decision like that ,... she is happy just as she is
my 9 year old had a form from school that i had to fill and one of the questions was about religion
so i asked her if she felt she was like mummy in what she believed about God etc
she told me that she wasn't sure and that she didn't want a religion right now
they will find their own way
but
until then , if they have questions about any religion , then i will do my best to answer honestly
if they don't ever want religion , then i will be proud of them just as they are

We should encourage our children to think for themselves. I have never forced my son to go to church. He can decide for himself. Just living everyday with people and TV will expose children to the people who believe in God. I have told him that I think there may be a God, but I don't know. I very much believe that even if there is a God, He does not care how you acknowledge Him or even if you do.

Mark 10:15-Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

You dont have to be a child to get into heaven;you need to have that trusting attitude that believes what the authority is saying is true. Believe it or not, God actually values this type of thinking and attitude.

Christians telling their kids the truth?? Santa Clause is the truth.
The Easter bunny that lays colored eggs? Or raindeer that fly?
Celebrateing a satanic holiday complete with costumes?
With patrend saints of Valentines who worship sex.
Christianity is pagan from start to finish. It is another false religion.

the way you want to raise your kids is up to you. would you care to imagine it from a christians perspective for a sec though? you appear to be leading your kids 'astray' by brainwashing them into thinking God is fake. it works both ways

All i can say back to the 'details' is, YaY my mom was a christian and didn't 'brainwash' me into thinking i have a monkey grand-daddy! :) good day!
