I used to have a little crush on a close friend of mine. He found out, and he liked me back. After a bit of time though, I lost intertest in him as more than a friend. He still thinks I like him though, and told me he was in love with me. I don't want to hurt his feelings, but I don't want to pretend to be in love with him. What should I do?

Why did you like him in the past? If it's still there then there's a chance you can rekindle that feeeling.
But most likely you're going to have to let him down as gently as possible. It will probably be really hard for him at first but you might be able to salvage the friendship if he's mature enough (Though give him some time on that. Those things are hard to get over.)

Pretending to be in love with him would make it a lot worse.

You have to put it to him clearly and tell him that you don't have feelings for him like that and you won't. And tell him that you want him to move on.

Whenever you do something like this you are going to have to be prepared to answer the question "why?"

You also have to be prepared for him to say that he will not be your friend anymore. Depending on the situation, this may or may not be true, but in the case that it isn't try not to overreact so that things don't get worse.

Its alright to feel like you do. Honesty means everything. You can let him know that although you appreciate the fact that he loves you that you are a friend and that at one time you felt the same, but now you are just friends. Hurt feelings are better than being dishonest.

Tell him how much you value his friendship . . . but that you aren't interested in anything more. Tell him you understand if he wants to stop being friends . . . but that you hope he will want to continue the friendship. Put it on his plate - men don't dwell on things as much as we women do - he'll see that the friendship is worth more. You'll be fine so long as you're honest. Do it fast though - every day is just another day his feelings grow....

You should not do anything and let time pass. He should realize that u don't love him and if u don't want to hurt him don't give him hopes and dreams. You will feel so much better at the end.

Tell him the truth and that is you really don't love him. That you don't know what the hell you want. That you led him on and he was for real which is why he took the time to figure it out. That he should not waste any more time on you because you don't deserve it.

just tell him what you feel, but don't hurt him or cut any relation with him because that will crush him. just make him see that both of you are friends for a reason

Very tricky. Just be honest...don't lead him on. Honesty will hurt the least in the long run.
