I kept getting calls from a private number. I would answer and they would go "hello?" and pretend not to understand me or something. They never said more than hello. It got to a point where they called me 5 times in one day. I was getting so sick of it, and was starting to realize that they were doing it on purpose, so the next time they called, I picked up the phone and pretended to be the police department. Well, that got them talking "Oh, ****, I didn't mean to call you or nothin'" They tried again, thinking they had mis-dialed, but I just answered the phone the same way. It finally stopped the calls for the day.

Doesn't answer your question, I know. But it was sort of related. It's an idea, if someone seems to be hassling you.

I don't think so. Try not allowing any calls that refuse to release their phone number (*82). Pick it up some time and if you can't figure out who it is then just stop answering, or pick it up and hang it up immediately until he or she gets the message.
