Ali would knock out Jack Johnson.

Jack Johnson: Height - 6'1 1/2, Weight 212 lbs, Reach - 74

Muhammad Ali: Height - 6'3, Weight 215 lbs(varied) Reach - 80

Ok, Ali was quicker and he had 6 inches in reach! A guy that is bigger and quicker and has more reach.... common sense says he wins. Plus Ali probably had more boxing sense. Jack Johnson was used to overpowering guys. Ali would adjust his game. If he had to out-quick he could, if he had to out-power he could and if he had to rope a dope.... Foreman found out.

Jack Johnsons opponents didn't move like Ali. They stood in front of him. He couldn't catch Ali. Ali would match him in power and pick him apart from the outside.

Two Different ERA's.

Jack Johnson maybe a little advance for his time but very Obselete compared to ALI.

Ali has a Better Technical skills and better footwork.

Johnson has the ability to Parry the punches with his hands but that wont work against Ali who fought with Blinding Hand speed and quick footwork( I think ALI has fastest footwork than any heavyweight ).

Ali wins UD 15

Ray ~
When you write Jack was a dancing man like Ali, this isn't the case inside of the ring, maybe you seen some footage of him doing the Fox Trot, but back when Jack was fighting if a fighter moved around the ring like a in his prime Ali moved around the ring he would have been booed out of the ring. Johnson's era was one of you give me one I'll give you one none of the fight fans would have put up with any dancing on your toes and clinching (Clinching is against the rules)
You are accurate when you wrote Jack threw a K.O punch but he didn't hit harder than a young Frazier, Foreman or Shavers. Ali's ability to move away from Johnson's power would be a difference in this fight, but the obvious difference would be Ali's speed, Jack wouldn't be able to keep up, this fight would be very similar to Ali vs Foreman, Foreman looked robotic compared to Ali. In this match Ali wouldn't be able to stop Johnson.
Ali 15 round unanimous decision. Thanks for the question Ray.

Jack Johnson was a defensive master and an expert in parrying punches. He was also a great counterpuncher and would make opponents pay for missing punches. He also had great stamina and endurance as a lot of his fights he had to train for over 20 rounds. Muhammad Ali was the fastest heavyweight with great footwork and reflexes. Neither fighter lacked in confidence so this would be a contest with both fighters desplaying extraordinary skills with Ali using his superior handspeed to win a close decision victory,

Dumb question. Whose rules are we playing under? Johnson would fight 25 and 30 round fights in horrific conditions. Ali almost quit after the 14th round with Frazier ( and I suspect was pretty well cared for prior to the fight). And who among those answering the question have seen anything more of Johnson than a few frames of grainy black and white film. Only rational answer: a draw.
