Looks like you need a little real information...
The idea of "Satanism" as defined by the Church, i.e. people that worship the devil, was invented by the Church just before the witch burnings. There was a big panic in the 80's about nutters that eat babies and such, but nobody has ever been found to actually practice this religion. It was only used as a kind of insanity plea in court to try to get people off.
Real Satanism is a belief system which doesn't involve the devil at all. The devil is a Christian idea, and these are not Christians. Go to the site below and it will tell you all about what I've summarized.

Satanists exist. You can find out by asking. They may very well blend in with others because they are fairly normal people and the answer to the question you forgot to ask is that Satanists are not what you think they are. I'm not a Satanist, but I know people.

Here's a little info for you:
-LaVeyan Satanists are atheists.
-Theistic/Traditional Satanists worship an actual deity named Satan. Some are reverse Christians and others are not! For some - Satan is simply a new name for a much older God and they don't believe in the Christian mythology.
-Pantheistic Satanists, like Theistic Satanists, are sometimes reverse Christians and sometimes not. For some - Satan is simply a new name for a much older God and they don't believe in the Christian mythology. The difference is the Pantheists have more deities than just Satan - oftentimes with Demonic names.

"Satanism" as such is really just a reaction against christianity. In fact, it actually affirms the christian world-view, since it's built around blasphemy of christian ideas, and there's no point in blaspheming something that doesn't exist.
For this reason, I'd say it's just as absurd to be a "satanist" as a "christian."
Of course, there are also all sorts of "pagans" who would readily be identified as satanists by christians, but who are really just attempting to carry on pre-christian religious rites; and, of course, historically and etymologically speaking, "Satan" is only "The Accuser," an angel in the old jewish tradition whose name was appropriated by the christians, confused with many other mythological figures such as Lucifer, Beelzebub and Belial, and applied to the personification of "evil" in their own pieced-together, bastard mythology.
In response to your additional comments:
You're on the right track. It's probably generally correct to class satanists into two groups: those who worship a "Satan" figure as "God," and those who worship "Satan" as the embodiment of blasphemy and rebellion against "God" or "goodness." In the former class I'd include certain "pagan" types, who are likely to identify Satan with the Pan of the Greeks and who see nothing diabolical in the symbol. In the latter class I'd include all those cults who worship "evil for evil's sake" in the totem of the Devil, just as christians worship a fetishized conception of "holiness" in the figure of Jesus.
By the way, organized satanic cults of the latter type are extremely rare by any reasonable estimate. Most of what you've probably heard is pop culture and urban legend.
The "Luciferians" were actually followers of the cultus of a 4th-century christian saint! People who assume that name refers to a "satanic cult" simply have no idea what they're talking about, as usual. Look up "Lucifer of Cagliari." He was one of the early bishops who railed against heresy - so far from being a devil worshipper.

You mean the ones that kill and eat babies? NO. Those are rumors started by none ofther than the Church.
Yes, Satanists are real. Satan is a symbol - the opposite of God/Jesus. It is used as a metaphor, he is not really worshipped. They beleive in endulgence, and are not supposed to kill any living thing unless it is for food!!
Try doing research for yourself instead of beleiving lies.

presuming that satanists are followers of satan I would say yes they exist. I also would be willing to bet that MOST of them do not know they follow satan or would ever consider themselves satanist and therefore would NOT stand out in a crowd. Ask someone if they are a follower of Christ or of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If they say no then they are at some level a satanist. I'm a hardliner, I do not believe there is a middle ground. It's either God or the Devil, the point of our life is to pick whom shall we serve?

The beautiful thing about satanists is that you never know because they don't go advertising. your right they can be anybody your friends, your doctor, your coworkers. One other thing Satanist and Luciferian's are different even though people were lead to believe it was the same.

Depends on your definition of "really", but . . .
Are there people out there who seriously think they are worshipping a nether diety known as Satan and performing arcane rituals to him/her/it. Yes, definitely.
Are they self-deluded? Probably.
Do they "just blend in"? Of course. If serial killers, rapists, etc., can "blend in" -- the TRULY evil ones in this world -- then people who are simply practicing alternative religious beliefs should have no problem doing so!

Satanists really exist. I should know, I am. LaVeyan, to be specific.
There is no Satan though, sorry to disappoint you. And there's no baby or animal sacrifice (not allowed to kill except for food, and even then only animals). No drinking of blood. There is the occasional orgy though.
