Hello all!
My family has been invited to a friends wedding on New Year's Eve this year. Buy the time her wedding rolls around I will be about 3 weeks away from my due date. Hubby thinks it is OK to wear Jeans to a wedding when you are that pregnant. NOT!!!!! So, what should I wear? Any websites I can look at. Or stores to go to. I don't want to spend an arm and leg on clothes. I also have a baby shower the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas pictures, Christmas & the Wedding which I would like to wear the outfit to all 4 events. Thanks for the help

Sorry I don't do 2nd hand shops!!! That is just too scary!!! I always buy new. Unless I know the person that wore the outfit.

There are so many beautiful outfits for pregnant women - please get online and do some searching. And please wear a dress to the wedding - you will look elegant and gorgeous - do not even think of wearing jeans.

I like the idea. I think it's totally romantic and a great symbol of your relationship. There are a lot of people who say it's not a good idea for some good reasons (such as the drunk drivers that night) but there are ways to accommodate those problems. If the drunk drivers that night are a concern, consider having your wedding in a hotel's conference room so the guests have the option of staying at the hotel that night instead of driving home. You would definitely want to send your invitations early. Etiquette dictates three months in advance, but for such an occasion I'd send them out between 4-6 months beforehand. Don't be disappointed if people decline your invite, either. They might already have plans even this far in advance that they can't/won't change. Instead, thank them for their RSVP even if it is a no and tell them that you wish they could be there. Also, start looking into reservations now. The closer to New Year's you get, the more you're going to get a "Sorry, we're booked" from places. Here's my advice on the wedding date: don't let anyone dictate to you what the date can or cannot be. This is YOUR day, not theirs. If they don't like the date, then they can RSVP no if they want. Sucks to be them, because this sounds like one heck of a New Year's party. On that note, I'd totally go. I think it's a classy way to ring in the new year. That and I don't like parties where people get flat out drunk. I find them boring. At least there's something to be CELEBRATING other than mutual sloshiness with your wedding =D

I don't think you'll find an outfit for all four events. The one for the baby shower will not have to be so formal.
There are just SO many cute maternity clothes out there - even if cost is a problem, you shouldn't have difficulty. Try a re-sale shop if things are really tight for you. Also, you could ask around from your family and friends or co-workers to see if they have anything suitable.

Buy a dress made for plus size ladies. Now with the holidays around, there will be plenty of dressy plus size options out there. You can find something unexpensive on the plus size sections of fashion Bug, Maurices and even Walmart.

An empire waist dress, two piece suit or a fashionable top with a elastic waist skirt would do. Acessorize to dress the outfit up.

Don't be trapped into buying an expensive maternity party dress. It's just not worth it. The plus size section would give you a fashionable, suitable choice.

A dress would be a good investment since you have four other events to atttend. You don;t have to spend a fortune, but you definetly have to wear something other than "jeans"

Good luck!

There are plenty of elegant and simple outfits you can wear. Get one simple black outfit (slacks or skirts are fine) and dress it up differently for each event with holiday earrings/necklace, or a nice brightly-colored pashmina/wrap, etc. Any maternity store at your local mall will have since dressier options, and then you can accessorize as you please.

Never okay to wear jeans to a wedding unless it's in a barn and the livestock is also invited. =P

For fashionable maternity outfits that won't break your bank, go to Target. That store has a great line of clothing called "In Due Time" that is both trendy and inexpensive. So you won't be all snazzed up and dressed to the nines, but you will be comfortable and the wedding party will just be glad you were able to make it to help them celebrate. They surely can understand your condition, or else they wouldn't be your friends, right? Good luck on the birth of your little one!

Do you watch Project Runway? Laura was pregnant and wore some really stylish outfits! Maybe you could try researching her and see if she has any contact info online. I bet she could point you in the right direction for nice maternity clothes. She's working on her 5th or 6th kid already...

Anyway, there are lots of great stores out there now for mommies-to-be and I'm sure you can find something nice in your local mall or online...

I was in a similar situation with a wedding and holiday party. I bought a nice kind of tunic top pantsuit in a deep wine color. I dressed it up or down with jewelry and accessories so it looked different. It cost about $45 at Motherhood maternity so it was not terribly costly. Best wishes on the new addition.

Jeans are not ok (silly men!), but black slacks and a nice top would be absolutely fine when you're pregnant! Any pair of black pants will be fine, but spend a little more on a non-cheesey white blouse. Add pearls and heels (if you can stand it) for the wedding, a lightweight red or gold scarf for Xmas, a bright T shirt or tank under the blouse (worn open) for the shower. no one will even notice that it's the same outfit if they're focused on your accessories! :)

There are a number of good quality clothes for pregnant ladies. I'd buy a nice dress that you could wear to all 4 events. If it's a princess cut dress, you could have it slightly altered to wear after the baby is born, so you won't "waste" the money for a dress you won't wear again. :)

Go to a 2nd hand store and buy a pretty maternity dress or a bigger dress. Maternity dresses are $$$$ and unless you want to spend that much money, I would hit a used clothing shop.
