Two Part Question: (I work in a retail store for a major cell phone company) 1) Why do people come into my store and ask where a competitor is located? Would you go to the Ford dealership and ask for directions to Nissan?? 2) How can people be so incredibly RUDE to a perfect stranger and/or someone who is not the source of their problem? Would you walk up to some random person on the street and hand them their A$$ b/c your water bill is too high even though YOU were the one who watered your grass all night, every night, for a month and took two showers per day?

I totalIy know where you're coming from!!!
I work retail as a part time job as well...
have you noticed how IT is required that you
1) HAVE to know about the latest and greatest trends
2) be a strangers' best friend
3) be their shrink
4) kiss their behinds
5) give them discounts/deals
6) and take their complaints????
Retail sales drive me to drink more. People are so demanding and rude these days that I want to ask them where they work so I can go there and make them suffer as they have done to me.
I hope your job pays you well...b/c after a while you will think twice about staying in retail sales. It WILL DRIVE you crazy. Take it with a grain of salt and leave that crap at work. There are some times where someone would REALLY need your help and it would make it SOMEWHAT ok.
Sorry, I try to be optimistic but it's hard to put a smile on your face when you hear people complain all day....KEEP YOUR HEAD UP HIGH.

Well, Yes I would walk into a Ford dealership and ask where a Nissan Dealer is. If Ford wants my business, they need to know that I am shopping at other places. Any good salesperson would take that in stride and go with it. That is what sales is all about, listen to the costumer, smile and sell. As far as the second part of the question. People are just rude.

If you ever find out, let the rest of us know. People are more selfish and more rude than ever before. It's not just you noticing it!!
They let bid doors slam shut on people walking with walkers, push people with a cane out of the way to get through an automatic day first, drive over grass and curbs to get to a parking space first, treat other customers as tho they work at a store and then get peed off when they find out they don't work there, walk past someone laying on the sidewalk bleeding, you name it.

You probably don't belong in sales. I know that sounds harsh but if you like sales you should get out of the retail kind. Most saleman see that as an opportunity to ask questions why they want to go to competitor then you pull out your swot analisis on them and find out the strenghts weakness and advantage of the competitor to make you better in your sales. As far as bill goes well you can only say im sorry and eat it. IT SUCKS I KNOW

People find it easy to be rude or disrespectful wonce they DeHUMINIZE you. At work, when people see you they dont see the traits that make you you, what they see is your compony and u acting like the compony pays you to act. so it is much easyier for someone walking by to say screw sprint or screw nextel cause thats all they see. not you. think about it the next time you by something to eat or see a taxi beside you on the high, when they go home they are probley doing the exact same thing you do after work.

I work in retail and I hate those dumb questions.. my favorite one is about returns.... OH MY GOD that is the funniest one.. by law no company in Canada is obligated to refund a customer for the purchase unless the item is defective.. I love the ones who yell they will take us to court... I laugh and walk away knowing that they are pissed because I know they are going to be laughed out of court... some people have no manners or just poor upbringing..

We regretably live in a ignorant society, Where people do not think before they speak or look in a mirror and see whom they really are . It is a world of me, me, me . I am so sorry for the little ones growing up in a world as this one for they will be our leaders of tommorow and that is what we will encounter wherever we go, from now on every one is in a mental football, game. sorry but the world is full of idiots. i think that people just don't care who they offend or if they even sound stupid. i work in a doctors office and sometimes i'll answer the phone and some moron will ask "are you open today?" so badly i want to say " i answered the phone didn't i? just rest on the fact that you are smarter than the average bear!!

Answer: ignorant and rude. That's what you do for a living. Give them the directions with a big smile and say " Have a blessed day" and go on about your day!

omg I got that all the time when I worked at Best Buy...its just because some people are really rude and because they want to make themselves feel better, by making the employees feel like c ra p...even though it's not your fault. They are just rude and need to grow up.
