Rub them with some menthol gel, or at least soak in a warm bath with some bath salts if you have the chance. And don't worry -- it's normal and if you ease into your running and build up slowly you won't ache so much, and in a short while you'll be able to do a mile without any aches the next day at all. Don't forget to do some gentle warm-up stretching before you do your run, and warm-down after. Don't just run a mile then stop. Slow down to a jog after your mile and ease down to a walk. This way you'll get the lactic acid out of your system much better and you won't ache nearly so much.

And good on you for making the effort! BIG plus for you!!

run again tomorrow.

If you are still sore, run a little less strenuous workout. A mile isn't that long of a run. What is your goal? if it is weight loss then switch to HIIT (High intensity interval training) where you alternate periods of sprinting with shorter "rest" periods of jogging.

If you can only run a mile, start with 10 minuites, work up to 20 then 30.

Get a heating pad to relax your muscles in between workouts. Since you ran oneday, work your upper body the next day.
