YES that is way to much. That much excercise could actually make your body eat its own muscle!

depends on the exercise and whether or not youre doing it in a healthy manner. A person who is trained for sustained periods of exercise (like an Olympian) will be all right.
Example: My dad used to play basketball when he was a kid... all the time. He wore down the cartilige in his foot and can barely walk now. Tell your friend to be careful. He/she won't be young forever.
Weight bearing exercise should be especially be done with caution. Particularly running, prolonged team sports, and that sort of thing.

Unless they are a competitive athlete, yes could be very bad -
Over training can lead to but are not limited to:
Increased injuries
Elevated morning pulse
Depression
Insomnia
Elevated blood pressure
Decreased Motivation
INcreased frequency of colds and flu
Irratibility
Fatigue

simple feel cranky and your beyond burning fat, and a hour a day is what at most person should do. the harder stress the excercise the longer interverls of rest you need.
4 hours a day obcessive and there no benefit really after a hour of excercise. If your not a althete hour a day at most

It matters what your goals are. If your training for the Tour de France or Ironman that would probably be about right. If you are just trying to stay fit it is a bit excessive.
If you are training for an ultra-endurance event I would hire a personal trainer and nutritionist.

that's way to much, 30 minuites to an 1 hour is enough, you're not suposed to work out everyday, you need to give those muscles you've just worked a day to heal up or work different parts daily.
