I have read articles about scientists using science to validate the Bible.

Great question! Interestingly, the phrase "Big Bang" was originally used to deride a scientist who thought the universe might have started in one big bang. Now, that theory is the most accepted.

As we move forward in science and history, we have found that the Bible is, at the very least, a very good and factual historical record. Some view it only as a history book, others as God's Word delivered to man.

If you step back and look at the account of creation in the Bible, you'll find that it matches modern science very closely. The Universe, and then planets, formed out of the void. Then the oceans, then the dry land, then plants, then animals, late on the scene was man. It get funky when people insist upon each day meaning a 24 hour period, but that's a personal hang up.

So, do I believe science and the Bible will allow for a common practice? Because of preconceived notions, probably not. But it won't change the facts- which shows that they are really pretty close!

BTW, my studies have been in Physics, and Aerospace Engineering. And Yes, I am a Christian.

I feel there is a way for the Bible and science to coincide. The thing that I do not understand however is how it could be done. Religion is so turned off by science (although it's getting better) that they will not cooperate or understand what science is trying to prove. Also--I feel the Bible has been altered so much over the years it would never be possible to make the two fit "perfectly" together.

Religion denies reason and logic, therefore it denies science.

Think of it this way. The christians believe the bible is the infalliable word of god. What if you could prove that something in the bible wasn't true? If you could scientifically prove this fact does that mean you acting against your religion?

Well science has proved the bible wrong, just of the top of my head it has proved the creation myth wrong, and the great flood wrong. Therefore these things never happened. Therefore the bible is not all true. These are the facts. And if you say that they aren't then you are denying the logical and reasoned scientific discoveries made of generations.

You could argue that those passages from the bible are merely metaphorical, but then who can you tell which parts of the bible are metaphorical and which parts aren't.

Of course there are, the two are not necessarially mutually exclusive. Einstein is a good example of this.

BTW science is as much a religion as Judaism, Christianity, etc. in that it requires a leap of faith. All scientific 'laws' are actually just theories which appear to work and are accepted as 'truths' unless and untill such time as they are 'proven' not to, which happens quite often. Then the 'laws' are either modified or discarded. All theories have at their foundation at least one 'fact' which is excepted as truth and the theory is built upon this, but this 'fact' can not actually be proven. Truth be told, science can't even prove ones own existence.

I like the fact that I got a thumbs down for this answer. Just shows that people don't like hearing the truth.

According to what I've heard, it's about 2 to 3 % of the scientists who are practising Christians.

I think you should do some research on Creationist and Creationism. They have their own theories that use science to compliment their beliefs. And to me, it makes sense.

There were many historical scientists that used Science to unveil God's glorious Creation. And yes, many did it specifically to glorify God.

Newton, Einstein, Kepler, Galileo, Mendel, Pastuer are a few I know about who thought they were unveiling God's creation.

I've never understood why the faithful can't adhere to both...even as a child, before I went full tilt atheist, I thought of the bible merely as a book of rules for christianity, not literal truth.

There are many scientists who agree with the bible. There are even some who agree with the Genisis account. The bible is not a scientific text book(it's purpos is more meanigful). But it is scientifically correct.

Yes there are lots. Science ends at the limit of human knowledge - Religion takes over from there.
