it's not a disease, it's a condition and it's called Amelia (Greek A- meaning no or without, and -melia meaning limb).

Amelia can be caused by quite a few things. It can be caused by exposure to a drug called Thalidomide; it can also be caused by Amniotic Band Syndrome.

When infants are born with missing limbs, it's generally a genetic flaw rather than a specific disease. I know of no disease that results in missing limbs at birth. The medication Thalidomide has been associated with birth defects such as missing limbs and was taken off the market for many years. I suggest you consult a genetic counselor.

It doesn't sound like a specific disease as much as a congenital malady. In layman's terms, a birth defect. If there is a specific defect that occurs often enough to have a name, I am not aware of it.
