I have a close relationship with my Mom. I want to get her something very nice/thoughtful under $75. I am quite crafty and I'm willing to make a gift also.

She is not into fancy things (expensive purses, spa, posh clothing, etc.) and she is not into technology.

She'll be 44 and is quite "hip." Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

Make her a nice greeting card yourself and you can make a beautiful wall decoration piece with the pictures of you and your mom together from your childhood to present. It will look like a collage. You'll be able to print the pictures and buy other related decoration stuff with $75. You can use nice covers of old greeting cards.I think your mom will be very surprised.

When i was still living at home my mom and i used to fight all of the time. now that i am out on my own my mom and I are so close she is just like one of the girls. I love to go shopping and every year for the last 3 years i have gotten her really great gifts, so this year when it was time for her birthday, i was trying to thik of something great to get her. When i say great i don't mean expensive or cheap but something memorable that she can use every day and my mom sounds exactly like yours. she is not into the spa experiance that would just make her uncomfortable, and technology makes her feel stupid when she doesn't understand how something works. This year i went to crate and barrell and got these great photo coasters. they are clear, glass and you put pictures in them. it was great because she just got new tables that she wants to protect and she will always be able to see me and my family but its not a bunch of cluttered photo frames all over. last year i had a calander made of her favorite pictures too, which is also a great hit at christmas, since you are so close to the new year. good luck i hope this helps!

I would: arrange to spend a day with my mom doing what she likes best (with you). It may not be as "pricey" as your budget. Since you stated you are close, then, the pleasure you will derive from time well spent will be the gift itself.

Bring her into your plans from the start.

Happy birthday and warm regards to your mom. You're both blessed to have each other.

I always bought my Mom silky pajamas for her birthday. I knew she would never go on her own and buy them. Then I would buy slippers to match. Look for a sale, you can get a big bag of stuff for 75 dollars. Or get her a bottle of her favorite perfume.

Have a mother daughter spa day. I got me and my mom pedicure and manicure sets and we did manicures and pedicures at the house as well as face masks and make-up. I even did her hair for her it was totally fun and good quality time with mom.

what about making a homemade calendar with pictures of you and your mom together enjoying life. Try doing themes, use scrapbook paper and bind it using weaving string (i forgot what it's called the thicker stuff.) HAVE FUN! OR DO A DINNER, Shopping, or something special you to do together with you paying for all of it.

i would have 3 choices:
1.) you could buy for her a very nice and physic french, romantic perfume, not strong but sweet!!!
2.) you could buy her a beautiful purse to match with any of her favourite, outgoing dress( if she is into style, that is). or...
3.) you could get her a necklace with a locker and inside, you could put a picture of your family if you want or, just a necklace with the alphabet letter of her name on it, not too sissy but very sassy and worth it!!!
