...defying the odds. Can you please send me your story? I.E. Who you are, how you cope, what do you think keeps you alive & well, and anything else you want to add? I would really like to offer one of my best friends, who was just diagnosed with aggressive, incurable cancer, some HOPE and positive energy from others in her same situation. I will take your stories and compile them into a book for her to read when she is down. I thank you in advance for your help.

Hi! My dearest friend was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer just this week. I have learned a lot since then. By the way, she is 77 years old.

I know this must be terribly hard for you. I just sobbed after she told me and I looked it up on the internet. I will give you some suggestions of encouraging websites so that you can show them to her. Some of these websites even have IBC patients' stories on them. I've noticed through reading the stories, that elderly women are cured faster and more completely.

Some of the websites paint a terrible picture, but some show hope for a cure. If your friend has IBC it is not a death sentence.

FOr ENCOURAGING information...
I looked on the M.D.ANderson website and found: www.cancerwise.org/august_2006

For IBC support group...
www.ibcsupport.org

www.cancer.gov./cancertopics/takingtime

Hope this is an encouragement to you and to her.

If your friend has IBC and you want to keep in contact, email me at allkell@earthlink.net

We can share information, tips, and encouragement.

Allison

One of my best friends was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer two years ago. We started reading all of the information about it, and were crushed to discover less than 10% of women diagnosed with this type of cancer live longer than 18 months. She has been through chemotherapy, radiation, a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, but she continues to live. Her cancer was deemed to be incurable, but she fought and fought to keep going. Somedays were so hard we didn't know what to do except cry, but today she is doing great, and in Deecember we will celebrate her life since being diagnosed two years ago. There really is hope even when the statistics don't look promising. Don't give up.
