Why are our American brothers and sisters so caught up in petty squabbles and petty debates? Should we not focus upon matters concerning greater events and more far reaching consequences? Why do our citizens vote without the knowledge required to make judicious decisions? How may such a dilemma be remedied? How many people actually read pamphletts and materials for voters education and analyze its contents? Just wondering....

Well that's why there is the right of voting, honestly you can speak to people and try to educate them on certain topics til your blue in the face, and some will never get it. And who would be the judge of their "education", so to speak. Everyone's interpretation of everything is different. It's a headache, ppl get so caught up in political babble, the country suffers as a result. It's seems like a war between the parties, and a blame game. These minds should unite to solve, instead of act like children.

I think a big part of the overall problem is the fact that the political scene today is so incredibly polarized. It really just turns people off to be denigrated when trying to debate issues. The Left and the Right are so far opposite each other they can not even agree on a single thing, even if they make sense for different reasons.

Most Americans take their liberties and freedoms for granted, and live relatively enjoyable lives. The political scene is just not one that a lot of people see as something to get into, because right now it is so left vs. right, with very little middle.

I think one idea that is interesting is lowering the voting age to 16. High schools are a very popular polling place, and getting involved in the political system at a younger age, especially when it is so accesible (go vote during your lunch break) would possibly get more people involved and informed. There could be debates and non-biased classes educating on the whole system (very important to be non-biased), so that youn voters can make an informed decision.

People make don't make judicious decisions because everything is so one sided, Left or Right (Evening News vs. talk radio), and extremely so. It is very hard to find straight shooting News sources. On top of that, politicians, who are very Left or Right, do everything they can to appear moderate. This is just a recipe for disaster.

There are a million things that can be said about the whole situation, but who has time for it? (PS that is another reason....)
