Our religion is a Non-denonational and my daughter will be turing 16 in the next 2yrs. She has been to some 15th party and she would like to have one similar to the way they do theres. Get bless through our church and then have a reception after then do the dance but she wants to wear the big dress and get the jewerly, and the crown and have the guys and girls do the dance with her. We are not Hispanic we are White but can she do that for her sweet 16th Birthday party.

I think you are trying to move across a cultural boundry that is not appropriate. Sounds like what your daughter really wants has nothing to do with religion, only having a party and dancing with guys.

Throw her a birthday party and if you want to spend a bunch-o-bucks make it a dance at the country club or local spot (perhaps you can get some other moms to have a group dance for several 16 year olds in her class).

My suggestion would be to have a fun party with a DJ at the bowling alley and then take the $5000 or so you would have spent and put it into savings for college.

What are you asking? Why don't you want Catholics to help out? I'm confused!!

If your daughter wants a Sweet 16 party, you should be able to give her one. You may want to do some research into the Quincinera celebration. Take the material with you when you talk to the minister (if you want her blessed on her 16th).

Others may wonder what kind of celebration you are planning, the more prepared with information you are,the better off you will be. Those who don't understand the celebration will think she's getting married or making her First Communion or Confirmation.

that would be a little wierd...she should not be that special. its just a birthday. but a surprise party with all of her friends and lots of fun stuff going on will make it good cuz she wouldn't have planned it and you knew it would be fun. trust me-this works! its what i had for my sweet 16, me and my friends still talk about how fun it was!
p.s. it doesn't have to be "mature" fun, unless she has super mature friends. i had a moonwalk and a popcorn machine, and stuff like that. have fun!
