In this day and age that was totally wrong!! You should have just left the child alone and go on your merry way.

It would have scared the hell out of me to be honest. The first thing would be that my son got in the car with a stranger. What you did was a very nice thing. Sending a ten year old like that is very irresponsible. I think that if you had the money, it would have been a better course of action to pay for a cab for the child and to let the child use the cell phone and let the parents know that. My question is what type of fruit cake would send thier ten year old to the grocery store ALONE. It would have been so much better if one of these "parents" got off thier butts and walked with him if they did not have transportation. Maybe you should give a call to CPS. You have to wonder if that type of adult responsibility falls on a child, what other responsibilities that you did not see falls on that child on a daily basis and what happened to the child when you left.

I can't believe the kid Even got into the car with you.Their response was totally normal. Their parents, what do you expect. You don't just go around picking any kid you thank needs help. Your a total stranger to the kid, you have no right. How would you feel if some guy just drops your son or daughter off? Your allowing that 10 yr old boy to think that it's OK for strangers to him up. Obviously his parents haven't gotten it through his head not to talk to strangers yet, but your no helping, by making him thank that every one's that nice. Not every guy that asks him if he needs a ride is going to be as nice as you, and take him back home, or even let him live.

I'd be upset too seeing my son getting out of a stranger's car!!! Come on I think you know the things that are happening in this world.
But also why in the world would the parents send a 10 year old to the store??? Are they that lazy??!!!
They should sit down and have that talk with their son about saying NO to strangers.
I know you probably did it just to be nice, but if it were some weirdo or a child molester it would of been a very different story.

If you did this to my child, I would've been pretty upset also. It was a nice gesture, but the parents had no idea of what your intentions were. There are so many people out there that would've done the same thing, but had different intentions. You see it all the time in the news. It is a nice thing, but next time you'd be better off to just keep on driving. You could get accused of anything by the kid or the parents and then you could have yourself in a lot of trouble!!

Well with todays society parents and children have to be careful. I do not recommend any adult or child get in a strangers vehicle. The child could of been killed or molested. Sadly it is better for people to not trust strangers or a helping hand. I am going to take a guess and say you are not a parent but as a parent I would of hit you. Another thing shame on those parents for not driving to the store themselves.

Well, In a small town that I lived in everyone knew my car after I started driveing and once I saw a little girl walking home in the snow. I pulled over turned the truck off got out of the truck and asked if she needed a cell phone to call someone. I gave her my phone and she called her brother, the girl couldnt have been more then 8, and granted we lived in a small town but still I felt bad. The thing is, yes pull over and offer to help someone, but dont get a strange kid and put them in your car unless they are very small and are lost..then take them to the police station. Unfortunately in thiss world you have to protect yourself from the many horriable rumors that can be spred like that, and even going to jail for helping a kid. Sad but thats the way it is.

I saw a girl, around 12, walking home from school in a heavy, cold rain one day. I thought about asking her if she wanted a ride home. But then I thought of the possible consequences and just went on by. It's too bad the way things are now days. Too many creeps.

The world has changed. It is not a good idea to to what you did.
You could get arrested. It is better to avoid situations like that.
It is really sad then he didn't know enough to say NO to you.
And the parents expect a ten year old to go to the store for them and walk home? What kind of parents are like that??
It is sad that the world is changing for the worse and not for the better.
You did a good dead but don't do it again.

In todays world it is wrong - but also the parents of that boy should have taught him not to get into a car with a stranger ~ who could perhaps hurt him. Not a good idea to be picking up strangers (kids or adults)

It would be my response, with all the things that happen to children. I would be interested in knowing how old you are. Surely you see news reports enough to understand that this was not the proper thing to do. If his parents thought he needed a ride they would have taken him to the store. You are lucky if you didn't get charged with something, or maybe you did?
