Judge for yourself

In 1889, they said "within the coming twenty-six years all present governments will be overthrown and dissolved" (The Time is at Hand)

In October 1968 Awake, they said "True, there have been those who in the past predicted an "end to the world" even announcing a specific date....yet, nothing happened. The "end" did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. ...Missing from those people were God's truths and the evidence that he was using and guiding them."

Their very own words.....what do you think?

Read the tract carefully. If a person compares his own religion with the bible and determines it meets the definition of 'false religion', then the religion has condemned itself.

By contrast, these facts about Jehovah's Witnesses are perhaps relevant to this question. The more one compares this Christian religion with others, the more remarkable it is shown to be.

1. Jehovah's Witnesses have no paid clergy. Yet they remain tightly organized with more than 6.5 million active Jehovah's Witness preachers (about 16 million associate themselves with the religion). Even fulltime preachers and workers at their branch offices are unpaid volunteers.

2. There is no elite class among Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the few 'anointed' among them enjoy no special privileges in their congregations on earth. An anointed person (one of those relative few with a heavenly hope) is not elevated above his fellow congregants in any way, and he may not even qualify for appointment as a simple 'deacon' or elder. There are no titles; EVERYONE is addressed as 'brother' or 'sister'.

3. No person benefits economically from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the 8 to 20 men who serve on their Governing Body receive simply room, board, medical care, and reimbursement for certain personal expenses according to the exact same provision as every other branch volunteer.

4. About a hundred men have served on Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body committee during the past 125 years or so. The vast majority of them have spent the vast majority of their adult lives volunteering for their organization's purposes, and the vast majority have died faithfully and near-pennilessly while still under their legal 'vow of poverty'.

5. Amazingly, Jehovah's Witnesses did not splinter as a sect from some other religion. Instead, a truly tiny but sincere group of bible students studied only the Scriptures to determine the will of God. Thus their religion remains absolutely independent of and not carrying the sins of Christendom's history, yet carries the authority of Christ's teachings.

6. Despite the distortions of anti-Witnesses, throughout their modern history Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to claim divine inspiration or infallibility for their teachings. They have pointed to the bible (and not any particular translation) as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. For over 125 years, their teachings have been presented as merely the results of sincere bible research by imperfect but godly humans.

JW's are a sincere and basicaly good people, BUT they have serious problems with doctrinal error concerning major understanding of what the Bible teaches.
For instance, John 1:1 ..."In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"..."and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...". There is no way on God's green earth the writer of that verse (John) was trying to say that Jesus was merely "a god" as the JW's are brainwashed into believing... It is clear when you read the context that John was telling all that Jesus was God Almighty.
And that is only ONE of their many doctrinal errors.

Among those who profess to be Christian, the Bible sets the standards for true Christianity. How many are actually following its standards? Let's see. The Bible says at Ps. 83:18 that the Most High's name is Jehovah. How many religious organizations actually USE that name? At John 13:35, Jesus told his followers that love was an identifying mark of true Christianity. He even told his followers to love their enemies. How many religious organizations refuse to participate in ANY war or even to have their members join the military? More and more people are acknowledging that holidays like Christmas, Easter and Halloween have pagan origins? How many religious organizations do YOU know of that refuse to celebrate such holidays? The Bible throughout has condemned homosexuality. How many religious organizations do you know of that will NOT tolerate such a Bible offense among its members? You can call Jehovah's Witnesses a cult to your heart's content, but that won't change anything. They are the only ones who are actually practicing what the Bible teaches. They are the only ones who are "worshiping God with spirit and truth." See John 4:24.

LOL! Ok, some of them sounded kind of crazy, like they were brainwashed into repeating the same things over and over again. Not saying JW's are brainwashed...it was just freaky reading the monotonous responses.

I for one am not apart of any religion...so am I good then!? :)

I really hope that they don't come to my door. I really think I might feel bad when I laugh in their face remembering these questions!!!

All religions condemn all religions. It's not new. They are just like others who seek converts because they believe it's their responsibility to spread the good news, the words of god, the truth (or their truth) as they own it and they have to share it to save as many souls as possible as they are the chosen ambassadors of god on earth.

You should ask whether they are false religion because all are. You should rather ask things like what you think about JW ... opinions on their practice and so on... We cannot know which is which. And it will be less offensive.

It is good to be a witness for Jehova.

But the religion of JW's is founded on works, while true Christian faith is founded on Grace.

They also deny Jesus raised from the dead in a real body and that He is also in the beginning as the Word of God, face to face with God and so is God. And without Him nothing would have been created.

I think that choice of religion is a matter of personal study and intense prayer.

In my opinion Jehovah's Witnesses are nice, hard-working people.

If you are Christian, I would like to remind you that Jesus said, "Love your enemies" (Matthew 5:44).

Yes, it's a false religion.

Their teachings are miss-guided and they wrote their own bible. (The New World Translation). ((They will be judged by God on that fact alone...))

Jesus died on a cross, not a stake.
He (Jesus) is second in the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
They are taught that 144,000 JW's are the only ones going to Heaven. ((Okay, with that line of thinking...there are more than 144,000 of them walking the planet (don't forget all the one's that have died) and now that's more than 144,000...so, then why do they want more people to join their religion...if only 144,000 are going to be saved? See Rev. 7 for the correct details of the 144,000... (I'll include it for your reading pleasure)

Revelation 7

God’s People Will Be Preserved

1 Then I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds so they did not blow on the earth or the sea, or even on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel coming up from the east, carrying the seal of the living God. And he shouted to those four angels, who had been given power to harm land and sea, 3 “Wait! Don’t harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants.”

4 And I heard how many were marked with the seal of God—144,000 were sealed from all the tribes of Israel:

5 from Judah — 12,000
from Reuben — 12,000
from Gad — 12,000
6 from Asher — 12,000
from Naphtali — 12,000
from Manasseh — 12,000
7 from Simeon — 12,000
from Levi — 12,000
from Issachar — 12,000
8 from Zebulun — 12,000
from Joseph — 12,000
from Benjamin — 12,000

Hmmm...I didn't see a JW in the bunch. I did see 144,000 Israelites mentioned.

Rev. 22:18-21 addresses their Bible.

I pray for lost souls...I don't call them out by name (JW) but I do pray they will find the truth.
