Are there any laws that protect Muslim Women from this antiquated pratice? If they are living in the west, shouldn't there be laws protecting these women form forced marriage? Does the UK have any such legislation?

Yes they do but it is behind doors where threats and intimidation cannot be seen. There have been cases where women have been murdered for choosing a partner that insults the family honor. (By the way your description of yourself is very impressive)

Normally an arranged marriage is one in which the parents of the two people marrying arrange the marriage. The couple marrying has little to no say in the decision as to who they marry. It's all set up (arranged) by their parents. The marriage that your boyfriend describes doesn't sound like an arranged marriage. It sounds like he found someone to agree to marry him for the sole purpose of him being able to become a citizen. In other words, a fake marriage. If this is what he did, it is fraud.

Lets let Muslims worry about that....I have friend who married a Muslim and moved to Saudi Arabia....She is happy with her husband and has 4 children and no regrets.....I say more power to her.....
PS It wasn't an arranged marriage either! Don't believe everything you hear....And BTW, many Japanese and Indians also have arranged marriages, you can't change the world, people, and their cultures....Some people are perfectly happy living this way, who am I to decide what is good for them?

I hope you are asking just because you do not know. I was married and was not forced. And was not arranged. And was in USA. Although, there are some marriages (any country, any believe) as it has been mentioned in one of the answers, that are arranged.

Remember that muslums are just that and if they practice it anywhere they are still muzzies and they have to adhere to the laws of the quran or risk loosing the head like it said in their book. to answer your question yes they arrange marrages no matter which country they live in and the government can not interfere into peoples religon.

i know its done in canada...i know a lot of muslim's and it seems like their parents give them a choice but all seem to suggest to them that they have someone they would like them to meet...and nothing is wrong with that....my mother is a christain and does the exact same thing...its annoying-she's probably worse than the muslims....help me...
