The Prophet said, "If anyone of you rouses from sleep and performs the ablution, he should wash his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out thrice, because SATAN HAS STAYED IN THE UPPER PART OF HIS NOSE ALL THE NIGHT." http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/054.sbt.html#004.054.516
I have a theory on this Islamic Haddith. Muhammad made himself a "prophet" among his war party and had scribes taking note of his every move as a result. This is supposedly how the Haddiths (sayings of the Prophet) came to be.
Ok, so people are watching Muhammad all the time and taking note of his deeds, cause this is a sign to them about how Allah wants them to act. One day, they see him picking his nose like everyone else and get a puzzled look on their face. Muhammad quickly responds with a "errr...uhhh...Im picking the devil out of my nose...and..uhh...everyone should do so...a one, a two...a three...yea, thrice!".
