I dont see how anyone could legitimatly have a problem with muslims wearing a veil if it's in the street or at home etc.

But I think as she was teaching and it's not a strict requirment of Islam she should see the need to remove it to allow her to communicate a bit better. Having said that it would only be good for the children if they had a teacher who they had to respect who wasn't the norm, to teach respect to all people.

As I answer this there are 7 answers all (100%) against the veil for one reason or another.
How come you imply you have a 66.67% vote in favour of the veil?

When will the Muslims get the message?
Devout Muslims should stay in a mainly Muslim state.
It would be conducive to peace.
Muslims coming to a predominately Christian country and demanding their ways by going to court is against decency.
But then I forget you are a Muslim.

Personally I find the veil frightening. In my culture people only cover their faces when they are doing wrong. Highwaymen, burglars and terrorists. I do understand why its done but I would much rather see a friendly human face than a mask because I feel safer!

I do not like how it makes men feel. (Like lecher's!) My own husband went to shake hands with a Muslim woman and was told 'I can't touch you because you are a man.' I am offended by this and so was he. In my culture a handshake is a mark of respect and to turn it away is the height of rudeness.

The veil to me is a sign of oppression. I think as a free citizen its your right to wear one but I would rather see your face. Its scary because I cannot see how you feel in a veil. I am really frightened of you because you look like the nutters on TV who burn effigy's and shout death to the west. I LOVE THE WEST!! Its not perfect but I think its the best way of living we have invented so far!

Muslims scare me to death now! Ten years ago I did not feel this way. I lived in the United States and I love many New Yorkers. That day changed how I saw Muslims! I thought it was the end of the world!

I can not tell which Muslims hate me and which are God loving people! Frightened people lash out!

Women being forced or brainwashed into any practise based on nothing more than religious tradition is wrong. When that practise is labelling and discriminatory, it is doubly wrong. However, simply forcing the discontinuation of the practise by legislation, unless there are clear safety or other vital issues involved, is also wrong, in that it denies choice, and can encourage a martyr / persecution attitude. What is needed is education and publicity to help people understand that the choice to wear the viel is not and informed or free choice at all, but religious delusion.

In a democracy-which we live in.
The question should be put to the vote.

I believe that in a recent survey 98% of the respondents were apposed to the wearing of the niqab in the UK.

I think it's disgraceful.
Leave it to a Muslim, they act like it's a nice thing and peace and love, then they turn and slit your throat.
