Yes, and I also suggest you change your name.

Well...yes and no.
Yes, because if you met a girl who was perfect for you in every way but had bad credit, you'd be missing out on a great girl. And there may be perfectly good reasons for having bad credit (former husband who did it all, circumstances beyond her control such as illness or layoff, etc.).

No, because you have a valid point: if someone can't even manage basic financial affairs, they're probably not going to be very good at managing other parts of their life. Horrible credit does show either poor management or apathy about how you conduct your life, and neither of those would be considered postive qualities...:)

Horrible credit shows a lack of maturity and a big problem with financial responsibility. It means I want what I want, I don't pay my bills, and I don't keep my word.
That said-- there is the other side: if a person has run into financial trouble in life and is working to repair their credit and pay off their debt, you might consider dating if they are commited to cleaning up their mistakes.
But.. do you ask for a credit report first?

absolutely not. I feel the same way. I would not marry a man with a whole lot of debt. Just make sure they know how serious you are about finance. That is the #1 argument between couples. In time, maybe this person can fix their credit with YOUR help...

Good luck!

How would you know that she has horrible credit? Besides, a man who needs someone who has good credit is kind of suspicious to me and I don't think a smart women would fall for anyone like that.

No you are wise.

She has bad credit because she believed that she could screw everybody by not paying her debts. What makes you think she will change? She has bad habits, she will only bring you down. You want someone who will help raised your standards to a higher lever.

I would say get to know her good.....is she a gold digger?
If she always wants you to pay for everything, she doesn't love you for you.
But just cuz her credit is bad.....I would just go slow.
