To be a Hindu, one must believe in the ancient scriptures of Vedas. Pagans may never have heard of that. They are therefor different beliefs.

Me personally no. Why? Because I am not a Hindu, and personally I do not have the slightest idea of what the ancient Greeks call the worship of Gaea and the Creator (the being they called Chaos the being that created Gaea. A a genderless and shapeless being that is beyond description.) so I prefer Spiritualist or Pagan so that I am not showing any disrespect to the divine of that given faith, and besides why bother patterning what I call my religion so I do not have deal with other peoples negative opinions. I believe what believe in, and my faith is my faith, so long as I am not calling myself a god (the way I acted when I was with and around an old associate of mine taught me this lesson too little too late to keep me from being ripped off and used in his own personal power games) it's okay to be part of a different religion than those closest to you. Accept for my brother and soon to be sister-in-law I am the only Pagan in my family the rest of my family are Christians, and they still accept me for who I am, and they do not care what religion I practice so long as I do not hurt people in the process. I think this quote applies to this question: If ain't broke don't fix it. Nothings wrong with calling myself a Pagan, so why change it?

Hindus are Pagans, but not all Pagans are Hindus.

Only appropriate by folks who actually follow the Hindu religion(s).

Of course, in both cases, they're externally applied names - neither group chose the name for themselves, it was given to them by Christians.

Only if Christians, Jews, and Muslims are all called by the same name as well. The Abrahamics?

Do you think all Christians would want to be called Lutherans? Or Catholics? or any particular denomination? Of course not!

May be as much as the believers would intently desire to be called pucca fools!
