Most likely this is a scam. I JUST recently went through the same thing. I received a letter with a check for x amount of money. This was supposed to be for the international taxes. I was told, that when I had the money, I was to call this guy back, and he would give me instructions from there. He wanted me to send out 2 different money grams to 2 different people. When he gave me the amounts, they did not add up to the amount of the check that I received. While inquiring about this to him, he said to "keep it". My b/f was already on the phone with the FBI and he said that he had another case sitting in front of him with the same information(bank check was from, letter, same everything) The FBI guy said that the Canadians(no disrespect), are getting smarter with these scams now adays. So, do not believe, IMO

One word... SCAM!
I can't believe how many people fall for this stuff. People don't just wake up one day and decide to give somebody they don't know a huge sum of money without asking anything in return.

do they ask for your bank account info or credit cards?
if so its probably a scam.
plus think about this, why would anyone randomly select someone and give them money? unless you signed up for a contest or something they generally don't

IF it was real they would not be contacting you via email.
Contacting via "snail mail" or regular postal service is the way.
