She can start pre-K next school year, if she's ready. No one knows your child better than you do. If you think she's ready physically (can pee pee potty on her own), emotionally (won't cry all day long with you not being there) and socially (can play well with others, takes turns, and can stand up for herself with bullies) then I'd say she's ready. The question is, are YOU ready? - LOL.

My little boy is going to be 5 next April. Legally he can start school next year, but I have been advised by his Pre-school to hold him back. The trend in the 80's was to send your child the year that they were turning five, now the trend is not to send them until they are 5. Therefore your child will more than likely be one if the youngest in the class. This may not affect them in the primary years but I have heard that once in high school and going through puberty that the age gap between the older and younger children widens, giving them less confidence and self esteem issues. I have decided to hold my boy back as I would rather him be one of the older more mature children in the class rather than one that may not be mature enough to start and therefore falls behind and loses confidence. I know the highschool issue seems so far off, but there will come the day when they will be faced with it.

It depends on where you live. In Indiana the child has to be 5 by I think August 1st. That would mean that your daughter would be able to go to public school in kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school year. She could start preschool (Pre-K) next school year (that is the 2007-2008 school year). You may need to find out the cut-off date for your state. If you call the local elementary, they can tell you the date and age she needs to be to start kindergarten.

Assuming you are in the USA, she can start Kindergarten at age 5, first grade at age 6. There may be a pre-school program for age 5, but they have to be out of diapers to attend for the most part.

Depending on the province you live, you could find some preschools that take 3 or 4 years old.
In Alberta you can find some for children who are 3yr old before starting going to preschool (to star any time between Sep-March as soon as they turn 3). In B.C. the have to be 4yr. old to preschool, and 5 before February the year to star kinder garden.

Fall of 2008. In the USA she will be 5 when she starts primary education.

She has to be five by Dec. 1 in most school districts to start public school, so to me that means she would start Kindergarten the fall of 2008. My girls' private school has an even earlier cut-off, they have to be five by September first to start their kindergarten because of the rigorous curriculum.

Probably you should speak to a school administrator soon; 4-5 years old is typical for pre-school, or "begindergarten". Good luck!
