Do you think it's possible that children who are mostly around adults develop quicker? After thinking about my own 2 yr old daughter and how smart she is, I thought about how she has little to no interaction with others her age. Could her knowledge of words & other things be in part due to the fact that everyone she spends her days with are loving adult family members who give her all their attention?

P.S. she plays very well with others her age when she does have the chance. not shy and such a share bear.

I have been working with children for many years. I do think that when a child spends a lot of time with adults it can play a part in how well as well as how quickly they develop in different areas. I also think that a child should have as much interaction with others their age as possible. It will help so much when they begin school and with social skills throughout the rest of the child's life.

No they don't develop quicker being around adults only. Children develop at different rates socially, emotionally and cognitively due to heredity, environment types of nurturing and many other factors. It is best to socialize your child as much as you can. She needs playdates and interaction with children just as much as being with adults only.

It might be a factor but it's not the total reason why she has such language skills. It could simply be that she is a fast developer in some aspects.

absolutely. Being around adults all the time definitely affects the way a child interacts, learns, and speaks.

I don't know if that's necessarily true. I think all kids develop certain things from certain people. If you teach her colors, she'll learn colors. If a child teaches her how to play a game, she'll learn to play the game. It doesn't mean she's smarter than other children, it just means she knows things other children don't and in contrast other children know things she doesn't know.

I think the learn quicker, but the down side is they lack social contact with kids their own age.
