I had eye surgery in 2004, and it was the best money I ever spent. I went through Nationwide Vision Center since that was where my insurance would pay for me to go. I was really pleased. All of the doctors are Board of Opthomolgy certified, and my aftercare was very thorough. Plus, the initial consultation was free. I had no complications, everything was explained well and the procedure went so fast, I couldn't believe it!

1 thing though. I certainly don't recommend getting it done abroad. Most of the places in the UK are registered with the healthcare commision, for high standards of care-can you see the same happening in India? What happens if there are complications? They can occur, even though they are rare.Constant trips to India would be quite demanding on the wallet!!!!

this isn't really related to what you asked, BUT I coincidently went to the eye doctor this morning and asked him if I was a good candidate for eye surgery. He said, not at this time. He said a lot of places will do it, but typically they like to see that you're vision hasn't changed over a year or more time to guarantee that it will not worsen after the correction has been made. Cause then 1 -2 years after the surgery, you may need glasses or contacts again.

Ask that when you find a doctor, and think about that before you consider. Good Luck!

Lasik and Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

We went to three different suppliers (2 high St and one private clinic). They all gave slightly different stories and suggestions...

Shop around... The prices vary a lot, and don't have the most expensive if you don't need the treatment...

Dont do it...all surgery carries a risk. Most eye practitioners always wear glasses, as opposed to getting laser treatment...this should tell you something.
