If you want to do something really special that shows him how much he means to you, do something that NOBODY ELSE DOES! Everyone does Butterfly Kisses, and apparently the other country song.

Did he ever sing a song to you growing up? Did you all have a favorite song or band together? Did you ever go to a concert with him that was memorable? Do something that HE would appreciate!!!

It doesn't have to be a slow song either! My father and I danced to Yellow Submarine by The Beatles, because that was the song we used to sing together. He actually CRIED (my father NEVER cries) when we started dancing.

If all else fails, there is a really sweet Billy Joel song that actually made me BAWL when I heard it and used it as another song to dance with my dad at my wedding. It's called Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel). Very very very very very touching!!!

*Verse 1*
Good night my angel time to close you eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say

I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Where ever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away

*Verse 2*
Good night my angel now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay

And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark and deep
Inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me

(Musical Bridge)
Do do do do...

*Verse 3*
Goodnight my angel now it's time to dream
And dream how wondeful your life will be
Someday your child will cry and if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart there will always be a part of me

Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabies go on and on
They never die that's how you and I will be

Suggestion: Start with a slow song from The Carpenters entitled, "Sometimes" [this is you singing to your dad] - sometimes, not often enough, we reflect upon the good things, and those thoughts always center around those we love...
THEN, segue to that father's song from Fiddler On the Roof called, "Sunrise, Sunset" - Is this the little girl I carried?... this is your dad's sentiments in song...

Best wishes and may you be blessed with a lasting marriage full of joy and bounty.

I think that Butterfly Kisses or I Loved Her First would be great songs for you and your father to dance to at your wedding. Congratulations and Good Luck!

You should think about all of the things that you and your dad have shared and think about a song that has words that tell something to your dad about the special relationship that you two have. Start looking at lyrics... that should help !
