I want to give my parents and in laws a cookie gift basket but I don't have time to do it all at once. I need to make the mixture, bake it, then wrap it. Is it okay if I make the mixture Saturday afternoon, bake the cookies (and wrap them) Sunday evening, and give the gift on Monday morning?

yes it is. Next time you want to do this do what i say instead.

Double your recipie. Mix all at once. Lay out wax paper. drop enough for however many cookies you want at once on the middle of the paper. Roll the wax paper up. cover the roll w/ foil. Freeze. Any time you want to make cookies, take out a roll, cut your dough, place on cookie sheets & bake.

I do this all the time. I can make cookies anytime I want w/ 10 min. notice (thats how long I bake them for)

Its really great when someone unexpecidly calls & says they'll be over in 15 min.!!! pop them in, tidy up a bit, & then great ur guests w/ fresh baked cookies.

Oh yes definitely. Some recipes even require leaving the cookie dough in the fridge for a few hours. Just make sure it is wrapped tightly (either the dough or the bowl that contains the dough) and you will be fine.

Its fine. Sometimes the cookies even come out better because the dough hold shape better.

Happy Baking!

Sure. Just cover the dough so it won't dry out and
then bake the cookies when it is convenient.

Yes indeed. No problems there. Just make sure you wrap some cling film over it so it does not dry out.

yes, many people prefer to chill the batter. chilled batter means that the butter will be cold and therefore melt slower, and the cookies will not be as flat.
