I'm sorry Ann, but your question doesn't make any sense.

I know what a walk-out basement is, I'm not sure what a daylight basement is. This maybe do to the different terminology fromm country to country or continents for that matter. Anyways I'll tell you for myself I don't like basements at all, they are expensive, not necessary, uncomfortable, damp and problems. I prefer what is called here in Canada "a slab on grade structure" The footings or footers if you wish are set below frost level ( 4' 0" in my area) the foundation extends about 16" above grade and the concrete floor is poured on top of this to make up the basement floor or entry level of the home " we call this the first floor" the second floor and main living area is above that on the second floor. The benefits are numerous and the concrete slab has a Hydronic Radiant heat system installed, the second floor is also hydronic Staple-up. The basement walls are framed as is the rest of the house, "wish I could have had SIPS", the exterior is EIFS Rainshield System. This house is 2850 sq.' 1250 sq.'down + 400 sq.' garage and 1600 sq.' on the 2nd. level. The heat source for entire home is 76000 Btu hot water tank and the gas bill runs 60.00/ month summer and 150.00/ month winter so about 90.00/ month for heat. Just think no sump pump, "no creepy crawlies" breeding in dark damp spots, windows where you please the first floor is barefoot country year round and I'm in northern ontario on georgian bay...Basements...build a beautiful house and live in the basement below ground, why not die they'll put you below ground for ever!!!!! Check out Grade level Plans try "Select Home Plans" more for your money everytime, researh SIPS and Durock EIFS Rainshield system. this house is draft-free and near dustless with this heating system you heat objects not air, the HWT is near 96% efficient with combustion air from outside...

a walk out basement is much cheaper than a daylight basment but if you plan to use the basement as part of your living space it is really nice to have it as a daylight basement

it depends what you want to use it for and how much you will actually use it. and how much you have to spend on it

you will have to spend more on excavation, frost footer unedr the exposed foundation, extra windows (windows can be very pricey!) and then finishing the basement.
