OKay . . .I just went up to 50mg of zoloft today. I feel tired, weak, and a little anxious and really shaky. Is this normal? When will the side effects go away and the drug start really working?

It takes two weeks to kick in and yes you will feel yucky. It took about 6 - 8 weeks for me to feel it but thats just me. Once it kicks in it works though. However getting off isn't all that fun. Just a little heads up. Good Luck with it.

Okay Sweetie, please don't be offended I'm on your side. Howeverr could be your anxious over the increase in dosage, for it takes about 30 days for Zoloft to reach the therapeutic value intended. I'm not saying your symptoms are not from the Zoloft. But I'm suggesting you try some relaxation measures, such as deep breathing slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth. Also tell yourself, your going to give this medication a chance, and not scan your body for weird or unusual feelings. Again it takes about 30 days for Zoloft to reach it's full therapeutic value, and if experiencing side effects they should slowly diminish over the next 2 to 3 weeks. Howeve if the side effects increase in severity, you should contact your Health Care Provider immediately and do not stop taking the medication
until you talk to them. For if it necessary to take you off of Zoloft it is usually titrated, meaning decreased gradually, for one can Certainly have side effects if abruptly stopped.

50 mg is a real low dose. The side effects are different for everyone. It normally takes up to 1 week for the medication to get into the bloodstream. Take a deep breath and relax.
