My mother in law is constantly taking her other grandson (not my child) for overnights and won't take her other grandson (my child) and she has every excuse in the book not to take our son and the mother of this child says she takes him because she feels bad that his dad isn't actively in his life (he is seldomly). Me and my boyfriend have both brought this up with his mom but she still doesn't seem to care, we even rub in her face that my mom takes him constantly and it doesn't bother her, i'm very aggravated and angry about this, not to mention MY dad has NEVER taken my son either and doesn't spend quality time with his grandson, I feel my son is the victim here. What should I do, i'm at my wits end with dealing with the mother in law and my dad on this situation?? PLEASE HELP!!

why are you worried about this? are you worried that your son's feelings will be hurt? find some surrogates. my mom doesn't spend much time with my kids, neither does my mil. but my aunt and grandmother do. they don't hurt for love and they don't ache for the grandparents that they never see. grandparents have to develop thier relationships with thier grandkids. if they don't the kids are not damaged by it. just make sure that he gets plenty of love. and try to remember, you can't pick your relatives, but you do form your family.

Your mother-in-law is the one who will lose out not your son.Stop getting upset about this your son will pick up on it and then he will be a victim. Your son is lucky your mom thinks he's the cats meow. Let him enjoy your moms' company and ignore your mom-in-law.Don't let her know it bothers you because whatever game she is playing she wins as soon as she sees it bugs you.

I would not force my child on anyone- the grandparents are missing out- it is their loss- love your son - and maybe she will snap out of it- maybe not- I would drop it- she is trying to make up for dad not being there- you don't have to "do" anything except take care of your own and do what you can do in your family- D

Stop trying so hard. If they don't want to be in his life there is NOTHING that you can do. One day it'll be too late for them.
You son is not a victim, so please stop thinking like that, it's a very dangerous mental road to walk down.

That happens alot. My parents did it with my first born son. They have 10 grandkids in total and my son is their favorite. There's nothing you can do. Just grin and bare it.

I have a mother in law issue like you but it sounds like she has a grudge on someone...shes mad for some reasonand is acting like a child herself. its definately not your childs fault so she needs to grow up and show your boy some grandma love.

Your son is the victim? No, he'd be a victim if he had to spend the day with someone who didn't want to be spending time with him.
