I think 1 is 'planoconvex lens', 2 could be 'igneous' and 3 is 'a large caldera', 4 is 'lava', and 5 could be 'contact metamorphous minerals' -- but check this link for details if you need the names of particular minerals (it's a free link to an educational site so it's okay to put it here):

You can find a lot of this through googling in advanced search. Just put in your phrase and you'll get most of what you need most of the time.
Good luck with your homework -- at least you're DOING it and that's the main thing!

EDIT PS: My thanks also to Dragon Queen for helping me learn something too. I'd take her answers over mine for the most part. They're more specific. With number three, the caldera is the original formation after the explosion, the lake was formed later but of course it's also right.

One of the best ways to expand your vocabulary is to do crossword puzzles, especially good ones like those found in National Geographic, New York Times, etc. All crossword puzzles will be good to some degree but many I see around now focus on people and events in entertainment, not real vocabulary. As you start out, you may need to look at the answers a lot but you should find as you do them more that you will not have to look at the answers so often. Another way to expand your vocabulary is to read many different kinds and levels of books. Some fiction, some classics, non fiction, biographies. Books published before 1960 usually have higher levels of vocabulary than those published today. Keeping a journal and challenging yourself to find the most descriptive words to express your thoughts would be good as well.
