James Bond drinks Vodka Martini. Traditional Martinis are Vermouth and gin, JB swaps gin for vodka.
As for stirring, it makes the drink colder than shaking does.

The reason Gin martinis should not be shaken is because yes indeed it will "bruise " the gin. That is a stupid way of saying that it will turn a kind of mirky white (you have to shake it pretty hard) when shaken with the vermouth.

The old shakers were made of tin and shaking gin in them left some of the tinny flavor in the martini hence the term 'Tin and gin,never begin"

Its because if you've had too much Gin already and ya shake it instead of stirring the shaking motion makes ya dizzzzzy and ya fall over, oops hic !!!!

if u shake it then the ice shavings come off the cubes and the drink gets watered down. this doesnt happen when u stir (makes for a stronger drink too)
