I'd like to find my real father. I'm looking for a man with the last name Bachkowski that lived in the Wilkes-Barre, PA area around summer 1979. I was lucky to get a name from my mother, and she and I no longer speak. I don't want to spend money on the websites. If anyone has any information or can help, I'd be deeply appreciative.

Look you have a challenge ahead. Here are a few things you can do. On your original birth certificate, (either your mother has it or you can obtain by going to the clerk of records at the county courthouse of where you were born). There on your original birth certificate should have your fathers first and last name. After you obtain his full legal name, you will need to find some document that is an identifier is find any document that may have his social security number, a drivers license number. This is the key to it finding an identifier (that is why people are told to protect their personal documents today because people steal peoples identity). If you cannot find an identifier then there are some web sites that you can go to and you can find an individual. What they do is tease you. Then that is where you have to pay a fee to see the details of your search. I tell you if you can find a social security number you can find this person in a matter of seconds. That is why people are so protective of this information. Or another way is to find anybody that may have or would have been acquainted with your mother back in 1979. People will talk if you talk to them nice and someone will tell you his first name. There is someone I know you can find that knew your mother back then and who she associated with. You just have to find them. You are truly looking at a challenge. What you have to remember is that probably your birth was not planned and may have happened over a one night stand. (Just being honest, do not mean to offend you). That is probably why your mother does not want to talk about it very much. Can you find your baptism records? That should have some information on it. Another thing to consider is that he may be deceased. A way to find that out is to go to the local courthouse and do a search for that last name. On the death certificate it will have his first and last name on it and the cause of death. This is possible. These are a few ideas, I hope that can help you. Good luck.
