a vet can give you antibiotics. there usually caused by lack of water, cat's are very picky about their water, mine drinks from the bathtub and sometime the toilet :s. giving him more wet food in his diet and buying a drinking fountain from a pet store is a good way of preventing it from happening again(not to mention saving money on vet bills)

If this is a reoccurring thing and you've already taken your cat to the vet before, you should try changing its food. There are a few to choose from but I know from experience ( volunteer @ vet clinic & work in a pet store) Nutro Max Nutrition-for UT, also there is canned food by pro plan for UT. These go over well with many types! You could also change the litter you are using to an all natural. But make sure your cat has seen a vet to get treated if you have'nt already!
Try the food.. good luck

If the cat is blocked, you will have to have a catheter. You should go to the vet anyway because you cannot buy antibiotics otc and you need an antibiotic for a UTI.

You cant buy any meds over the counter for this, and a catheter will not treat the uti. You need to take your cat to the vet so they can prescribe some meds for her.

i don't believe they sell anything to treat UTI. That is something a vet should do.. They can tell you the seriousness of the infection, if caught early enough a simple antibiotic and a change in diet is all that is needed, but if it goes on then more medical attention will be needed and much more expensive then it you catch it early.

There is no over the counter product for that! Take your cat to the vet unless you want it to be a dead cat. If your cat is a male and he gets blocked, the toxins can back up into his bladder and kill him! This is not something to mess around with. Get off the computer and take him to the vet now.

Treatment for a UTI is all going to depend on what is causing it. My little girl had a UTI back in April and the vet had to test to see if she had crystals in her urine. She did. They cause irritation that leads to infection. I had to put her on antibiotics and give her a gel that breaks down the crystals. I also changed her diet to one that specifically mentions on the package "lower urinary pH". I also have added wet food to her diet to help with hydration. Both cats are free feeders, with the exception of the wet food. Good luck.

your cat needs antibiotics just like if you get a uti, you need antibiotics. so take your cat to the vet. I think i've seen a cranberry supplement for cats, so maybe pick some of that up after your cat has finished the course of antibiotics

I know they sell "urinary tract health" cat foods. Also, if you use a clumping cat litter change it to a non-clumping formula. The clumping formulas can stick to the cats privates causing UTI's.
Initially you may consider taking your cat to the vet. Then use the suggestions I gave as "preventative" measures.

Has the Vet seen your cat? If so, they can tell you what foods are good for cats with urinary tract infections and also, ask about Science Diet, they have good products for that.
