where can I find info on the new (contempary) Germany?

I really need to find this info but just cant seem to. The sort of things I mean is....newfound german patriotism after the world cup, the new political Germany with Angela Merkel, etc.

Please help!

I dont know if there's any information available yet on the effect of patriotism in Germany due to the World Cup (it was only in June/July!). There's a song I hear on the radio all the time about how Germany was supposed to win the World Cup on their soil this year, but that they'll try harder next time around (they changed the lyrics from 2006 to 2010)... when it's played at clubs and bars, the place just goes wild! If there's any effect at all, from a layman's point of view, I'll say that it's brought the country closer together.

I do know that Chancellor Merkel's effect on Germany is not so much that she's from the right (similar to our Republican party), but that she's a SHE!

Go to Germany and ask the people what they think.
