Ask yourself a few questions. Do you acknowledge that you have a child? Does your child have enough food? Do you physically abuse your child? Do you use drugs or alcohol around your child? Do you ever show affection or tell your child that you love them? And finally, do you ever make decisions that benefit your child that do not necessarily benefit you?
You know the answers to these questions. You know which ones should be answered "yes" and which should be answered "no". You're probably an average parent. Every parent asks his or herself if they are being a good parent or if their child is normal. It's normal to wonder if you're normal or doing a good job. If your child is not being abused, or suffering from hunger or neglect, then your child is doing better than some. The number one indicator of a bad parent is selfishness. And besides 'good' and 'bad' are relative anyway.

Just love love love them. Keep communication open to build a strong relationship. Let them make a lot of decisions on their own if making the wrong choice won't really make a difference...this helps them learn the process of decision making so that when they are teens they are better able to make the right choices and not be swayed by peer pressure. Do lots of activities with your children too so as to build a lot of good memories for them that they will cherish forever. The more you are involved in their lives at an early age, the better you will be as a parent when they hit their teen years.

A parent does good when all the kids necessities are done , but don't spoil ur kid cuz then it will be hard for you in the future. Take care of your kid to the best of your ability. Always be there for him/her so that he/she feels protected. Keep up the good work. Good luck with ur kid.

My mother-in-law once told me that you won't know if you are a good parent until the kids grow up and are adults. If they turn out to be kind, caring, productive individuals then you have done a good job. I don't know if its true mine 14 and 15, so we will see later

I would say the best way to figure that out is to see how the child interacts with others as well as with you. Do they listen with respect, are they bully's, do they show understanding of others? The most important thing to remember is to communicate with your kids, as well as encouraging them to talk to you.if a child feels they don't have to be afraid to ask for your help or to ask for your advice then you know your on the right track.

Is your child safe, fed, and clothed? Do you spend time with your child and listen to them and know whats going on in their life? Do you tell them you love them and are proud of them? Do you offer them guidence, and support. If the answer is yes then id say your doing just fine.
