They say that they are not religion and some say they are. Some say that they are spiritual. Go figure! One Word that they should be considered is: CONFUSION
"God is Not the Author of Confusion"

Atheism is the antithesis of religion. Saying that Atheism is a religion is like saying that if someone hates Nazism, they must be a Nazi too. Religion is institutionalized superstition, a term that can hardly be applied to the rational thought that is Atheism.

Calling atheistm a religion is like calling bald a hair color. Atheism is a conclusion. There is no dogma, or organization or priesthood. Atheists come is all stripes, conservative, liberal, militant, pacifist, spiritual, and cynical. The only uniting element among them is the disbelief in gods.

Atheists give you a different view about religions. Atheists are usually the main victims of that thing you consider to be so wonderful. If that upsets you, sorry. But, no. We aren't going to just suffer from religious abuses, and keep silent about it.

An atheist is one who does not believe in God.
There are alot of atheist in the world today.
Most atheists simply are not klumped together uniting themselves together every sat. or sun.
to share their commonalities.
A person should be respected for whatever they choose to believe. Whether atheism, christianity of whatever church or denomination, hindu, islam, buddhism, Mormonism, spiritualism, witchcraft, etc. etc, without being judged by anyone.
Accept people for who and what they are; and for whatever they choose to believe or whatever they choose to be.
I say this acceptance not just to you, but to all people in the world, including myself.
We are all different, unique and people should try to accept other people for who and what they are; and whatever they choose to believe.

It IS a religion. Atheist does not mean "one who has no religion". Atheist means "one who does not believe in a diety". As far as I know, it's the only religion that has no diety (except MAYBE Buddhism, but that's an iffy assumption).

I believe the term athiest to mean that you believe in a higher power but not god so I must agree that it possibly is more of a spirituality thing than religious.

No, because a religion has a unifying philosophy underlying it. Atheists are all atheists for different reasons. They've all reached the same conclusion, but from different angles.

Disbelief (weak atheism) can't be a religion. Positive atheists can get together and form a religion but then they would be no better than the believers.
