I thought the sun was named after Jesus ?? no ??

It would seem that those who named the planets found the Greek gods more popular than the one you call Jehovah.
BTW
Its only on earth that the planets are named after Greek gods.
I doubt if Jehovah calls Pluto ....Pluto.

Roman, actually. We only allow the names of gods who are safely discredited. However, I've heard rumors that the planets of the Theta Hydra system are named Jesus Mary, Joseph and Herod.

Jehovah created this world, not the rest of them. Christ appeared after many of the planets were already given names by the Greeks, and it was felt that it would be confusing to change the naming system to suit other religions.

The planets and the stars actually *DO* have names which honor and please the Almighty God Jehovah and His Messianic King Jesus Christ.
(Psalm 147:4,5) He is counting the number of the stars; All of them he calls by their names. Our Lord is great and is abundant in power
Sadly, humankind has chosen to ignore the rightful Sovereign of the Universe, and Jehovah has allowed the current system of things to continue. Would those alienated from God be privy to thoughts and wisdom of God, such as the true and Godly names of the planets?

Yes, Satan the Devil is the "god of this system of things". He has hidden the truth from most of mankind. But Satan's rulership over this world is almost over.
(John 16:11) The ruler of this world has been judged.
(John 12:31) Now there is a judging of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
Once Satan is gone and this system of things has ended, humans will obviously need to forget such God-dishonoring things as the pagan planet names and instead learn new things that honor Jehovah.
(Romans 12:2) Quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

What makes you think there aren't? Doesn't that depend on whose doing th naming? Do the Chinese have the same names for the planets that we do?

men have named the planets -- consider this --- there is only one true God - so what could they do -- name all the heavenly bodies with just one name?... BTW Venus is not a Greek godess, she is a Roman godess

Planets are lifeless creations. Jehovah does not need to have them named after them when their very existence gives honor to to him as creator Please see 19:1 and Revelation 4:11

they appear occasionally on toasted cheese sandwiches. what more would they want??
