The book won a prize but has been banned in Turkey I believe, the authors initials i think are O.P

As above. The author is Orhan Pamuk. His books are not banned though they are controversial. Many people applauded his recent award of the Nobel Prize for Literature but some resented it due to his statements regarding how the Turks perceive themselves.
"Istanbul; memories of a city" is well worth reading, I also recommend "Snow" ("Kar" in Turkish).

Orhan Pamuk who is a very popular writer in Turkey and none of his books baned. We are very proud of him getting the Litrature Nobel.

well mr OP has a book called: "istanbul,memories n the city"
but none of his works are banned..
