this week it says,

"forgive your enemies, it messes with their heads"

That doesn;t sound very christian like to me, what do you think? My daughter attends this church as well.

It's kind of funny......and true.

I'm not sure if it's christian, but it is a contemporary way to put a tenant of their faith.

People's ideas of Christ-like vary from person to person. I think the sign makers have the gist of what Christ was like.
Jesus was always rocking the boat and he never gave straight yes-or-no answers. All of his answers and parables stopped people in their tracks and forced them to take honest looks at themselves. If you read closely, you'll see that Jesus had a wry sense of humor, as well.
If you want to look more deeply into what this church teaches, look at their websites and what charities they associate with. Talk to your daughter about the way she interprets their messages. The bulletin board message actually says very little, except that they borrowed a message that I have seen on several Christian programs, message boards, and banners.

Yeah that church has a problem. Do they also teach you are better than your enemies because your sins are forgiven? Don't believe that...your sins are not "paid for" by the blood of Christ...that is a myth to lead more into sin and eternal damnation.

I think it is an attempt of some gentle humor.

I don't find anything at all inappropriate with it. If it is a real concern for you, have you discussed it with your daughter to see how she feels about it and how it affects her?

Frankly, I don't find having a gentle clean sense of humor and Christianity as incapatible.

While this is not a very theological phrase, it is true.

Proverbs 25:21-22 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.

well, its not a very good way to say it, but the "forgive your enemies" is the truth. i think they are just trying to give a message and make it interesting so people read it.

I agree with forgive your enemies, but its not to mess with their head. you forgive to be forgiven you must have the right motives behind why you forgive

You're right. But it shows a sense of humor, which is nice. I wouldn't necessarily consider it UNchristian though either.

It is a good slogan. And I'm an atheist.
Why don't christians give up the spooky miracle stuff and just concentrate on being nice to people?

you must admit this is a different reason for forgiving your enemies.
