The reason I ask this is because I filed a complaint with the hospital over my son and how when my son was having stomach pains the doctor would not come in and check him. My son was actually hemorhaging and could have ultimately died. He had a tonsilectomy 6 days before. I want to get an idea of how many complaints a doctor gets and why we as the public don't get to view them unless the medical board or joint commissions find the complaint enough. It does not go on their visible complaints to the public. This is something I feel very strongly about and only want serious responses please. If you could tell me about the situation and why you complained about the care of the ER doctor. I even took it to the CEO of the hospital and ... Our story is located at

Sorry, I have not filed a complaint but as this is information that is pertinent to your question I felt I needed to reply. I think that it is totally unfair that if you have surgery and it does not turn out right the doctors will drug you up for pain and make you dopey just so you are not capable of filing a complaint. I think that if you are taking medication for pain due to them then the statute of limitations should NOT be till after you are no longer taking medication. Some doctors WILL drug you up to shut you up and it is a crime. They have a two year statute of limitation and that is so very wrong. It ought to be 5 years.

We took my sister to the ER for a puncture wound. The ER doctor sewed her stitches too tight causing it to swell and get infected. Now she has a really nasty scar that will have to be surgically treated. What is pathetic is the doctor was thrown out of the Navy for poor practice but was hired on at a civilian hospital! The hospital agreed to wave the ER bill, but he was never reprimanded.

If you mean a complaint as the beginning of a lawsuit...Me and my family sued the hospital, doctor, and ER for killing my father 6 years ago, it was recently resolved 2 years ago, when it went to court they all finally decided to settle. Technically all lawsuit are able to be seen by anyone, it just takes some research.

The problem with all of us is, we are placing such emphasis on doctors that we forget they are humans. They can make mistakes but unfortunately when it happens to you or your loved ones it hits home.

Take the example of your work place or your employees. There are excellent workers, good workers and bad ... I mean real bad... workers. Because it is so visible and transparent we get to see the quality of such work.

Doctor's world is so secretive. We as public want to believe that such 'n such a doc is good or excellent. We dismiss the notion that there are bad docs.

In an ER, sorry, you will have no way of knowing who is good or bad. It is not like a family doc. In an ER, you are in and out within a reasonable period. No rapport is established. This is where the root cause of all the problems.

We should stop treating Doctors as Gods.
This may not answer your question but I said my piece anyway.
