I'm wondering if anyone has had this and knows what it is. I know I should see a doctor if it doesn't clear, but I'm hoping to avoid that.

On my lips, I have little red bumps. They're mainly toward the inside of my mouth, though they're not all the way inside. They're mostly where my lips meet. And they're sore, like annoyingly chapped lips, only they aren't chapped. There's nothing different about my tongue except that the tip of it is kind of sore, possibly because it's the only area to come in contact with the bumps, I'm not sure. My throat is a little sore, but not too bad.

I'm positive it's not anything like an STD because you can't get the TD without the S, right? I've never... in the past or present so that's not an issue.

Has anyone ever had this before? If I didn't explain it enough, let me know. I'm hoping someone can recognize it so I know what it could be. I understand opinions here aren't meant for diagnostic purposes, but I'm just curious.

Thank you.

I have never had any form of sexual contact, oral or otherwise, so it's definitely not an STD. And I never go without chapstick, lip balm or vaseline, so I don't think my lips are dry.

My son had something like that I believe it was called eurotygo or something like that. It could be a sign of strep possibly too. I would check with a doctor. It just may be a virus too. Hard to say without talking to your doctor!

Momdadand4kids...it's impetigo. My nephew gets it occasionally.

Definition:
Impetigo is a skin disorder caused by bacterial infection and characterized by crusting skin lesions.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors:
Impetigo is a common skin infection. It is most common in children, particularly children in unhealthy living conditions. In adults, it may follow other skin disorders. Impetigo may follow a recent upper respiratory infection such as a cold or other viral infection. It is similar to cellulitis, but is more superficial, involving infection of the top layers of the skin with streptococcus (strep), staphylococcus (staph), or both.

The skin normally has many types of bacteria on it, but intact skin is an effective barrier that keeps bacteria from entering and growing within the body. When there is a break in the skin, bacteria can enter the body and grow there, causing inflammation and infection. Breaks in the skin may occur with insect bites, animal bites, or human bites; or other injury or trauma to the skin. Impetigo may occur on skin where there is no visible break.

Impetigo begins as an itchy, red sore that blisters, oozes and finally becomes covered with a tightly adherent crust. It tends to grow and spread. Impetigo is contagious. The infection is carried in the fluid that oozes from the blisters. Rarely, impetigo may form deeper skin ulcers.

it sounds like herpes. cold sores which are the most common name from them are bumps (redish or white) which are created in the lips area inside or outside.
cold sores are causes by colds, cold weather, too much acid in the stomach,. or std.
and yes you can get td without the s. (what is that all about)
if i were you, i would go to webmd and type in sores in mouth and see what the experts tell you about this.

I don't know about STD's and your 'activity'.

But I found some stuff on rashes and such.

It may just be because it's getting cold?

Lip balm is good and all, but drinking MORE water should always be a priority.

You better see a Doctor, you might have herpes. These sores will come and go at different times when active. Better check to be sure and I hope I'm wrong.

Could be the herpes simplex virus - the kind that causes fever blisters. Or you could be allergic to something, like your lipstick, toothpaste or mouthwash. I had a similiar reaction when I tried a new toothpaste. I would see a doctor anyhow just to be safe.

Could be any one of a number of things. It could be canker sores, it could be tumors; it could be herpes (cold sores and genital outbreaks are caused by the same herpes virus), it could be aliens taking root in your lips.

See a doctor.
