I'm 20 in college and have NEVER asked a girl out (too shy) or been asked out. This girl always talks to me when we see eachother. She mentioned she had a boyfreind this summer but don't know now. How do I know if she likes me or just wants to be a friend?

Talk to her...and most importantly listen to what she has to say...Put aside the fact that you're probably attracted (and nervous around her) and pay attention to her body language...does she touch you a lot (like on the arm, etc) and get close to you...And does she do that with everyone (some people are just more touchy-feely)...

Just pay attention and you'll get your answer...

Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?
Just remember, take each moment like it will be the last. This I feel will be a good start for you in knowing. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Ya gotta grow a pair.

Just ask her if she has romantic designs on you. If she says "yes," then whoopee! You've got a girlfriend!

If she says "no," nothing has changed: you've simply cleared the air and prevented a lot of awkward situations and anxiety from happening in the future.

It sounds like she wants to be your friend, especially if she is mentioning a boyfriend. That's a girl's way of saying, "I like you as a friend, please don't ruin that by hitting on me." You can find out if she is still with her boyfriend by asking a question about him, like "what is your boyfriend's name? or "Is your boyfriend in college?" Something like that. That way, if she's single, she can say so.
