The black people had been dragged here in chains from their homeland. So, they deserved that laws be changed to reflect their freedom and be changed to reflect that they were actually human.
No one is trying to free illegal aliens from slavery, nor trying to fight as to whether or not they're human. Illegal aliens are sneaking into this country and need to leave.
Oh, and to answer your question: No, they didn't have to say that, because Jim Crow laws were being enforced...that was the problem. And don't forget, without widespread support of whites, the Jim Crow Laws NEVER would have been overturned. (Now you can see that white person is not synonymous with racist.)

Whatever. Mexico has no right to cross the US border illegally, nor do its' citizens. FIX Mexico, and stop crying about the United States. Maybe, if Mexico really buckled down and started really trying to do that, we could like, help them, and it'd be worth something, at the end of the day, not just a mess, like now?
Cry 'racism' all day long, you know you're still telling a lie...Mexico's broken, or people wouldn't be running away from it.
So, fix it...? Oh, and let's not forget the drug trade...and the human trafficking, and the people that die on the border every year, or the guy that just died a few days ago in the truck wreck at the border, and and and. There's a million reasons to build that border fence, actually about 12 million, I guess I can count you as one more...?

Do not even attempt to compare illegal aliens to the struggle for equal rights of legal black Americans.They were and are Americans. The illegal criminal isn't.We corrected those laws and brought an end to that era.Stop trying to jump on every one elses band wagon.You cant in any way expect any intelligent person to equate the illegals act,to that of black Americans.Get your own band wagon,you missed this one.

Not granting rights to citizens is very different than keeping out those illegally here.
I know you hate it, but citizenship and subsidies by American taxpayers is NOT the new world civil right.
